How Corrective Exercises Can Improve Your Bodily Condition

Just like trying to rid yourself of an illness, treating only the symptoms of a bodily condition will prevent you from fully recovering. While it is important to address the side effects, you and your chiropractor’s work shouldn’t stop there. The next stage of your recovery regimen will consist of strengthening the body parts that were originally affected by your condition. By providing you with a series of corrective exercises, your chiropractor in Commack will help you regain your strength and get you back to living your life pain-free.

After a few sessions of manual therapy or chiropractic adjustments, your chiropractor will ease you into do your own exercises. To ensure that you don’t overexert yourself, you will most likely begin with simple stretching. Since you spent the bulk of your appointments receiving stationary care, it is normal for the affected area to feel stiff. Over time, stretching will provide your joints and tissues with the flexibility they lost after injury. When you are cleared to proceed, you will then begin to do exercises that will help you get your strength back.

At this point in the recovery process, you will start to take on a bigger role. Instead of relying solely on your chiropractor, you will be given the freedom to do your corrective exercises at home or in the facility, unattended. Despite receiving fewer adjustments at this part of your treatment, there may be other techniques that your chiropractor may instruct you to perform during your session. After you are shown how to correctly perform these exercises, you are fully equipped with the ability to continue your recovery independently.
